i have a gateway computer and it is an media center pc and i did an recovery, how can i back up my files?

there is a folder for backing up the files but as i open it a new page comes and it says pc angle and nothing happens, and if right clik and explore it it opens a sub folder which had a icon of a lock wht should i do now??
