1st question: I have 2 rats and they are both male. They have fleas and I can not get rid of them! I have tried and tried to get the fleas away but nothing works... they are sick. They are about 1 1/2 yrs old. Would I be able to give the rats to a pet store? I don't want them to be fed to a snake.
2nd question: My cat has been having bloody poop for a few weeks I think... I don't know what it is. I told my mom to take her to the vet and she gave the cat some worm stuff. I know the cats have worms but I asked my mom to take the cat to the vet. This bloody poop has gotten on my floor, walls, closet, bed, all over. I'm upset. She's a wild cat.. I found her and her littermates when they were kittens. The others[4 others] got killed one day and she was the only survivor. But yeah what do you think it is? And please don't tell me to take her to the vet cause
I am taking her asap.

First off no petstore will take a flea infested rat. It would spread to all of their rodents. Also there is no gaurentee that the rats wont be snake food, even if the store says they won't. You could try to take them to the vet, the vet can do a dip and a shot to kill the fleas and eggs.

If you can no longer keep the rats then maybe you should find a rescue. Where you live depends on the recscue, Are you on the east coast? There is a rescue in Maine.

There is also a great flea shampoo. Its for dogs but can be used on rats. It works great. I used it when my rats got rodent lice from a pet store. Its called Adams(blue bottle) it cost between $10-20(depends where you live), but worth it, the cheaper stuff does not work.

As for the cat I don't know. There are a number of things it could be. Since you are going to the vet you'll be able to get more info.

Here is what my zoology professor told me about rodents with external parasites: Get some cat flea powder, and just put a TINY bit on the rat and rub it into the fur. Rats, like cats, groom themselves frequently, so the cat powder is okay for them. In that class we sometimes captured wild rodents and though I didn't see fleas, some had tiny mites or lice or something; this method took care of that.
But you say your rats are sick; fleas don't usually make an animal sick. If their fur looks bad, you could try feeding them cod liver oil. I have cured rats' skin diseases with this, and the rats love it.
As for the kitten, all I can say is it sounds serious, and you're right to get it to the vet asap.

I work at a vets office... and bloody poop is never good. It could lead to many things, most likely theirs an intestinal problem. Secondly the rats. if u take them to a pet store they wont take them. If u drop them off and force them to take them they will most likely be fed to snakes. My suggestion is while u take ur cat to the vet take the rats and they will give you a flea repelient especially made for rats or one for dogs... good luck

Cats get certain types of worms by ingesting (breathing in/eating ) fleas. As for the bloody stools, confine your cat to one area instead of letting it go all over the house.

Talk to your vet about the best products to treat your rats, cat, house and even yourself....
