How can I check the first input if it has - sign then i should ask the user to input a new name with no - sign

How can I check the first input of a program if it has - sign then i should ask the user to input a new name with no - sign..using c shell

like this
# nameofprogram aa-aa
you have - in your name please delete it
and here it should ask the user to enter his name again

does anybody know?
