dont listen to what that guy is saying about height. if your only a freshman you've got time to go and regardless of hight you can play a lot of positions. Im a senior in high school and our football teams height avg was probably like 5'7. the taller guys played WR/Safety. But for your height u can easily play CB if you've got the speed. RB can be a good position as well. Our RB was about 5'8 and he got a scholarship to Washington state to play football. dont over do your workouts though so that u dont stunt your growth. You can also play any of the LB positions. you can pass rush and thats a plus because of your size and you can probably beat the taller players with your speed.

Now, you are a freshman, so you SHOULD bulk up and get taller, I forget you're only a fish, so you could be any position if everyone is smaller than you, but if you stayed the way you were, go with these positions...LB, FS, or SS maybe DE for defense and FB and TE for offense (If you like offense). Maybe If you get heavier, and taller, let's say you end up to be over 200 pounds, and be around 6'+ you'd end up being a great TE, or DE. Anyone can be an LB though, but if you are better than anyone at the position, then you'll get the spot. Also, FB is an option for bigger, faster people. There's many a FB who are 6' and 250 pounds, but they can run a 4.8 to 4.5, 40. Get some speed, and you'll be a mean powerback. You said you tackle good, so i assume you like defense, stick to the LB spot, you're quick you said, so you can be probably ML, or even OLB if you're really good, keep you're eye on the QB or HB and FB, whatever your assignment is, and kill the guy and don't let the ball carrier get past the line of srimmage, my best bet is the LB spot, unless your coach see's something different in you. If you manage to get big and quick, you can still be a DE, and get around some guys and kill the QB or whoever has the ball by the time you get past the line. Whatever you are, don't hold anything back.
That's defense, now on offense, I said FB or TE, as I said if you happen to get bigger and be really fast, you can be an awesome powerback, don't get fat, and have to be on the line, get big and strong and fast and be either FB or TE, TE is the mix or a receiver, o-line, and FB. You're big, fast and you have the hands of a runningback/receiver and the blocking ability of the o-line. I love the positions, because you can confuse a defense when you're at FB and block, block, block, then whoa, run. Same with the TE, block, block, block forever, then a drive later, block for a few secs, run for a pass, whoa FD, or TD depending on how fast you are or the field position.
I hope that helps. DON'T get fast and slow, or you'll be o-line, BORING! You either want the DE or LB spot on D, and FB or TE on O, but if you stay small, your coach will help you out with a different position. Big boys get your sports, but if you get some speed and slim up>>>Runningback/LB. Good luck, and hope that helps bro. Peace.

Sounds like a outside line backer or middle line backer if your fast enough and tough or tight end if you have good hands and can run routes and fast enough also depends what type of offense and defense your team runs too when i played freshman year i was 6 foot 175 i started defensive tackle and offensive tackle i was undersized for that position but i made up for it with speed strength aggressiveness and skills i also played some defensive end and middle linebacker and i still made varsity my freshman year only me and 2 other freshman made varsity by the time i was a senior i weighed 220 in muscle and still was undersized for my position but still made the state defensive first team and the all star team i was starting both sides of the ball since i was a freshmen and on special teams i never got any rest during games mayb for about 5 plays at the most but i liked it then i got a football schoolarship to New Mexico highlands university i did that with hard work and dedication just remember that

You still have time to bulk up. Possibly reciever or a defensive back. There was a senior reciever at the high school im going to go to who was about 5'6''. So you don't have to be a giant. I'm going to be a freshman too, I'm 5'10'' and 175 lbs and im a quarterback. You'd be too short to play QB but anything else besides lineman and probably linebacker would be worth trying for. In the end the coaches will put you where they think you should play and not neccessarily what you want to do.

Depending on your school size and the school's around you, you could probably play anywhere on the field. However if you're from a huge school with tons of people playing, chances are there are gonna be a lot of guys bigger than you so the rest of my answer may be irrelevant.
Freshmen games look like there are a bunch of midgets running around and they are seperated into their own league for a reason. After Freshman year you are going to bulk up and grow naturally so have fun this year at whatever position you decide. I had a buddy with your dimensions that played DT Freshman year, but come Sophmore season he moved to safety.
Good luck

Leave that up to the coach... trust his judgement and do whatever is best for the team. If you're lucky enough to go on to college, your future coach will appreciate your team attitude, and likely switch you to whatever position you fit best for that team anyways.
Keep in mind, Ben Grubbs, an offensive guard drafted in the first round by Baltimore was a linebacker in high school. Jamaal Anderson, who was Atlanta's first pick at defensive end, was a wide receiver in high school. So long term it doesn't matter where you play as long as you have fun.

Yeah don't listen to AC Milan I was the same size freshman year and I break his bit** a** in half!!! Play safety and runningback. that's what I played and did darn well at that size. I only reached 5'9 180 senior year and played some of the best teams in the country and played well. So just keep workin hard and you'll be fine.

It depends on the players on your team. If you are quick and can make tackles, i suggest a speed cornerback. You will be able to keep up with the recievers and if you can jump, make a pick.

Think about safety. "Pretty quick" doesnt cut it as a CB or WR, but if you can already tackle, and then learn to make big hits and get to the ball, you'll be fine as a FS.

defensive end.... ur a big kid for a freshman and you say you can tackle.... but that speed will give you the extra edge and you could be a great rush end with a lot of sacks and TFL
