I have a very pregnant guppy and she is having fry, but she is having them at a rate of 1 a day! I have never seen anything like this before. She has had 3 fry in 3 days. Yesterday I thought maybe I just wasn't seeing them and I pulled the tank apart, but today she had another one! Is this harmful to her? Is it normal? I haven't read about anything similar.

It's very unusual, but can happen for a few days like you are seeing. She will probably have the remainder within a day or two at most.

I don't know exactly, one of my guppies just had 2 fry today, just 2, and she still looks WAY pregnant.

They will eat their young given the chance so its possible she is having more than 1 and just eating some of them, but that doesn't seem likely since they have about a 48 hour appetite decrease after giving birth

In response to another answer, Guppies lay eggs inside themselves and when they hatch the fry come out as if she's giving birth, they're called "livebearers."

That's very unusual. I breed guppies and usually they are all born at one time. They are born live, but when my babies are born i usually dont find them for at least one day. Alot of times after the babies are born the mother will die, but the babies are born at once for me, I dont know what's up with your guppy. Keep an eye on it, and i hope you have her in a separate tank away from the other guppies. She will most likely eat her babies, along with the other guppies.

You're right, this is very peculiar. Are you feeding her normally? Don't be scared to feed her even if she's pregnant. Feed her on the regular schedule you did before she got pregnant. Maybe that's the cause of the problem.

I'ts okay, she'll have a few babies like that. Separate them from her and all other animals. Some of them are bound to die anyways.
