What do you consider OLD??????
I myself am in my fifties and don't consider myself cheap. As an example only I go for coffee EVERY single night with the old lady. Both coffees cost like $3.79. I give the girl or guy a 5 dollar bill and walk out. Now, while I know that $1.21 is NOT the best tip going, well you do the math, I give a pretty good tip considering. I tip accordingly in whatever the situation is. Be it in a restaurant or bar or where ever. And I've seen MANY MANY younger people who are so much MORE CHEAPER.

I have noticed as I get older and prices change that I become more "frugal" if you will, not cheap. When you are so used to one thing it's hard to change to another. I am only 29, but when I was in high school gas was at the highest gas ever got was like 90 cents a gallon so can you imagine how much things costed when they were younger? Also when you have to work hard for your money you expect so much, and in today's time service just isn't what it used to be. Also products cost so much more and aren't made in America, all made in China, cheap labor and made kinda hard spending money that isn't going back to your community as it was when they were younger. Lots of reasons they may seem cheap.

Old men are probably perceived as cheap by some, like you, for the same reason young women are perceived as cheap by others, like me.

Silly isn't it?

Generalizations don't su(k, but their gravity is real heavy [ok stereotypes do su(k].

Could be that they're not cheap, merely "careful" with their funds so that they'll have enough to live on through retirement. Whether working or retired, life on a single income can be difficult if you're not a little cautious with your funds.
