I had a friend that was a quad amp and blind. she was a mgr@ the state dept of rehabilitation, what can we do? anything anyone else can within reason that is! SInce I wasnt born with my disability ( blindness) It was pretty tought for me at 40+ yrs of age to suddenly lose my vision. my career and life as I knew it . Sure I don`t fly or drive anymore but theres plenty other things I do just the same as everyone else who isnt visually impaired. By the understanding, traning, experience and assistance I have recieved from others and a bit of effort on my part? I am pretty much able to do waht anyone else can do and just as well...One of the 1st things I had to learn was what I couldn`t do that was GIVE UP.. Once I got passed that? the rest was easy Life is perhaps 85 % attitude 5% humor and 10% effort... ~ Cheers~

Ask Stephan Hawking--who is totally paralyzed--including his voice.
I'd say winning a Nobel Prize is a pretty good testamonial of what people with disabilities can do when our oh-so-paternalistic non-disabled neighbors stay the h~ll out of our way!

Anything they set there minds to. There are so many things, councelor, phone operator, the sky is the limits. Disabled is not wanting to . It is however doing anything and everything anyone else can do .

I know a guy totally devoid of arms and legs. He just has a head and torso. He's a lawyer.

SHAME ON YOU for "isolating" yourself / another because of any (possible) physical differences!
Since the onset of POLITICAL CORRECTNESS in our society, a person is no longer labled "disabled." - They are "alternately challenged."
%View this situation as such and the horizon will open up a w-i-d-e-r panorama to yourself (others.)
I still recall how my (late) Girlfriend who was wheelchair-bound would help me view many situations from all perspectives (many that I had never before considered!)
