Joel Randolph Youngblood III August 4th 1982

Joel Youngblood.

On 04-August-1982, Youngblood started at CF for the Mets in Chicago and singled in the top of the third. This was Wrigley pre-lights, so obviously a day game.

After the game, he learned he had been traded to the Expos.

Youngblood caught a flight to Philadelphia where the team was playing, arrived at the park, entered the game as RF in the bottom of the sixth, then singled in the top of the seventh.

Good day for Youngblood, considering his hits were against pitchers Ferguson Jenkins (CHI) and Steve Carlton (PHI), both Hall Of Famers.

Joel Youngblood with the Expos and Mets. Started for one team (I think the Mets) during the day, got traded and arrived in time to pinch hit for the Expos. I am not sure the order of the teams.

Joel Youngblood.

He was also the only player to play for two teams on the same day. He was traded in the middle of an afternoon games, and arrived in the middle of a night game. He was expected any time during that night game, so his name was on the lineip card. If it hadn't been, he could not have played in that second game.
