Celeron M is the budget line of Intel. It is more inexpensive but the core duo is a lot more powerful. The Pentium was replaced by the core duo.

actually AMD's are nice, but if you want Intel..the Intel Core 2 Duo's are much better and use less power (longer battery life)
Pentiums are better than Celerons of the clock, but Pentiums have larger caches so they are better for multitasking than celerons

For best video, choose a good videocard w/ onboard videoram and not just sharing w/ system run. It should support HDMI. Try Nvidia's Geforce Go series w/ PureVideo support.

Celeron M450 or Core Solo T1400 (both Yonah cores) should be fast enough for single threaded applications; comparable or faster than most business desktops. Just make sure you have at least 1Gb RAM to start with.

Go with the Core2Duo for better video experience.

You may also want to consider an AMD mobile Athlon64, Turion64 or Turion64 X2 (dual core)
