I was saying how mad i get when people call themselves ugly, so do you think this chick is ugly or is she just being insecure?

Im only wondering because I have a daughter about this age and it infuriates me how magizines tell girls they have to be perfect! How could a 15 or 16 year old already know she wants plastic surgery? What is the world coming to?

Too many young girls are suffering from low self-esteem and making rash decisions about their bodies before they are even done growing.

Physically, this girl is not ugly. The pictures she has chosen to post make her look unattractive. She is not smiling in any of them and the angles are purposely chosen to JUST show her nose.

I don't know what the answer is to reverse this trend but girls need to gain some perspective. Eventually, life will throw them some REAL problems, THEN how will they cope?

i think shes pretty. its ridiculous..they've done studies about this and the media portrays an ultimate image for girls to follow. Girls have low self esteem because of this, and they are constantly think that they dont measure up and they arent good enough because they dont look like the "All-American girl"...its really sad. Eating disorders play into this too...but almost every girl that i know has some insecurities because they look at the media and constantly compare themselves directly with pictures that have been touched-up and women with boob jobs. They dont realize that most, if not all, of these images are fake. They have been retouched to make the women appear smaller and to fix skin problems. They use makeup to shade the cleavage so their boobs look bigger. Its an epidemic, and its affected males and females. Look out for your daughter, as im sure you probably do, but i guarantee shes going through this too.


Its also men in society that think that women from the media look exactly as they are portrayed, so they hold women in society to a high standard, and they bring girls down because her body isnt proportioned the same way as the girls in playboy.

Well, I'll let you know what I told her. I told her that she is perfect the way she is. The only thing she needs to change is her perspective of herself. And I did suggest a way that might help her without going to lengths of plastic surgery. I suggested she go to a stylist who can help her choose a haircut that's flattering and draws HER attention to her eyes. If you look at the pictures, most of them have her hair covering her eyes so the focus becomes her nose. If, when she looks in the mirror, she sees her eyes first and not her nose, she may see the bigger picture and how beautiful she actually is rather than focusing on what she considers a flaw.

Magazines, MTV, television, movies all set the standard for what is suppose to be good looking. Unfortunately, she doesn't fit the mold. She's not Britney Spears or Lindsey Lohan or even Christina Ricci. Yet, she is who she is, an attractive 16 year old who looks perfectly fine to me. She also seems a little insecure. I would be too if I was expected to look like Cameron Diaz. Too bad ;(

Oh no i m ugly! No one will like me! But try to think and see, not only u, but others too. Who cares whether u r ugly or not, its wat is inside ur heart. Guys who really love the girl not because of their beauty, but their attitude. Plastic surgery is very dangerous, 50% can destroy ur face if there is mistake. God create us this way then accept it. Think of others, dont compare urself with the beautiful ones but the ugly ones. This will make u feel better.

It's ridiculous isn't it? She's lovely. Not fat at all,shiny hair,wonderful complexion,yet totally unhappy and miserable over one little minor thing.
She should live in my overweight body for one hour. She'd appreciate what she really has then!
