Animism is the proper term for the worship of spirits, from anima the Latin word for spirit. Many African and South American tribes practise this form of religion -- the worship of ancestral spirits.
Necromancy is the term for the summoning of the dead, from the Greek nekromankia =prophesies-of-the-dead -- since ancestral spirits were traditionally summoned in night-time rituals to tell of the future.
I'm not sure if there is a word for a general "belief" in spirits -- our language of course developed in a time where everyone (all cultures) believed in the existence of spirits in the dead, so there was never a need for a specific word to define believers or non-believers.
