I think there is groupthink at both ends of the spectrum. You can't really take a whole classification of people and generalize like this. Some are. Some aren't. Me. I would probably fall under the liberal heading but I'll take an open-minded conservtive over a close-minded liberal, any day

FDR the greatest and most memorable liberal this country has ever experienced wasn't too open minded. He had his mind set on keeping the isolationist quiet and getting this country involved in World War II. Lyndon Baines Johnson another Liberal was hell bent on winning Vietnam. Those two Liberals sure don't seeem too open minded to me. Yes, they both cared about the common man and woman but open minded, I don't think so.

If it is true that there is a genetic component to political ideology, then this would seriously call to question the adulation that liberals show for behaviorism. Many aspects of their worldview would crumble like a house of cards.

Not in my experience. I have generally found self proclaimed liberals to be the most closed minded intolerant people I have ever met.

Since they have no core values, they therefore construe everything, regardless how immoral it is, without judgment.

It is an illusion of open mindedness. It is just their narcissistic way of flattering themselves and each other.
