For your first period I would stick with a pad.

However, I wonder if it is healthy for a very young woman to wear tampon regularly and not just for swimming or sports. I will have to research that.....

When I wore tampons I wore Playtex that used a plastic applicator. Now I use the Diva cup. But I don't think you should use that until you are older. However, link provided if you would like to educate yourself.

I'm nearly 40...have used tampax for more yrs than I can remember. I like the package that has multiple sizes in it. Periods tend to be heavier on some days than others, and vary from month to month; so the various absorbancies come in handy. Helpful hint....always wear a panty liner starting a few days before you expect your period to come until your cycle is over. It'll help keep "accidents" from showing through your clothes.

Probably playtex, the plastic applicator is a little easier to use than the cardboard one.

Although, I actually prefer tampax if I'm going with a "brand" name at all.

No idea what you're talking about at the end there.

whatever you choose to use, stay away from cardboard applicators. the plastic ones make for a much more comfortable insert. i can't stand tampax. i swear by playtex gentle glide. try em out. the yellow label one is regular tampons for lighter bleeding. the pink label is super for heavy. and the green label is super plus for really heavy periods (which i have been cursed with so many times!)

I like Tampax...but stay away from anything scented. Also if you don't want to use your finger to push it in then stay away from O.B. Get the ones with a smooth glide applicator because they are the easiest and most comfortable to get in there.

***ALSO*** get the lowest absorbency possible for your flow...using a tampon that is too 'strong' for you puts you at risk for toxic shock syndrome...and remember to change it every 4-6 hours. Leaving it in longer then that can also put you at risk. Don't get freaked about it but remember that knowledge is power.

From personal experiance when i first started using tampons, i found the tampex way more comfortable. It stung for a bit, but then, it was no problem, don't use the paper tampons, if ur a bigginer, they hurt the most to insert. Plastic may not be the most environmentally safest, but im pretty sure you could be forgiven, lol!!!!

I would recommend one with a plastic applicator, they are usually easier to insert than the regular cardboard ones that Tampax has. And get the smallest version, "junior or slim".

Tampax Compax. They are small and can be carried w/o anyone knowing and comfortable. Use the one with the purple wrpper if possible it is the smallest

i would have to say that playtex is your best choice, the plastic applictatior will make the whole precess easier for you, but i think this is something you should talk about with your mother or older sister, aunt, etc... good luck
