Some house pests sometimes enter my betta's bowl. When a fly or mosquito gets in my house they try to lay eggs in my betta's bowl and he eats them. Ants also get into the water sometims and he sometimes eats them. I read that in the wild, that those are the things bettas eat. But is a pet betta okay for that?

You bet! That's good food for bettas! If none fall in catch them and add them to his bowl. Those are two major food items for bettas in the wild and they will do very good eating them.

Definitely! In fact, live food is better in some ways than commercially bought food and comes free too! Bettas are carnivorous or omnivourous and therefore probably enjoy it better!

Bettas are natural insectivores, so those bugs are tasty treats for him and good for him too. Only concern would be if he got a bug that was exposed to pesticide or had a parasite.
