One is Sam. The other character is not named in the book. My daughter asked me and I just dont have an answer for her, lol.

There is a good reason for that - the friend of Sam is never named. Here is the wikipedia article about the book - maybe you can show it to your daughter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_eggs_and_ham

There are two characters in the book. The first is Sam I Am, who is offering the Green Eggs and Ham. The second, who is refusing the GE&H, is never named in the book. However, in the animated "Dr. Seuss on the Loose" (1973), which includes Green Eggs and Ham, we learn that the other person's name is Joey.

he is never named because the focus is on Sam. Just let your daughter name him.
