A revolt happened in France against the King and the result was the Second Republic. This eventually brought on more revolts against this government.

Another revolt happened in the Hapsburg Empire when Magyar separatists wanted independence.

Another revolt happened on the Italian penisula when Sardinia wanted to break away from Austria. This lead in turn to a revolt in the South by Garibaldi in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. After he took this area, he started his march on the Papal States. This had to be stopped because it would upset France if the Papacy fell. It happened and France went into Rome and restored the Pope.

Another revolt happened in Prussia. Some people wanted a more liberal constitution. This eventually failed when Fredrick William IV dissolved the Assembly in 1849.
