I heard that dodgeball was banned entirely in public schools in some states? Wasn't it the states New York and New Jersey that banned dodgeball entirely in public schools?

Some schools in Maine, Maryland, New York, Virginia, Texas, Massachusetts and Utah have banned dodgeball, or its variations, including war ball, monster ball and kill ball. Wyoming, Washington state and California have banned the game of tag during recess. A suburban Charleston, S.C., school, dumped contact sports such as soccer and touch football.
Heck recess has been banned in a school district in MA because of the lawsuits. We have become such a litigious society that kids can't even play anymore and get a skinned knee without a provider worrying about getting sued.
Then they wonder why our kids are getting more and more obese. This is happening because these parents seem to have forgotten what it is to be a child and they want kids wrapped up in cottonballs and kevlar so they don't know what it is to have fun in school. So they become sendentary and blob like in front of the boob tube, gain poundage and become candidates for hypertension, diabetes and heart attacks by the age of 12.

No STATE banned dodgeball. As noted by others, some school districts banned the sport (and it is played competitively), and individual schools withing districts ban the activity.

It's too much of a liability. Nobody wants to take their kids to repair chipped teeth or get them root canals because of a dodgeball game.
