If all you want is to reinstall (read fix the current installation), put the xp cd in the cd drive, restart and boot to the cd, fix the current installation (if you choose new it will either replace the existing or create a new installation).
If a new installation is what you want, choose new and format the drive also.

You need a reinstallation disk of xp (cd rom). You should of gotten one with your purchase of your manufactured pc. Before you do that you must make sure that you have all the drivers for your pc before you do the reinstallation. If you don't some things on your pc will not work. If your not sure if you have all of ur drivers go to your pc's manufacture's website and there should be a free download to get all the drivers you need. Back them up on a burned cd, then you can do your reinstallation.

Pop in CD. in BIOS set it to boot from CD first
