purchased a new construction home that is falling apart. builder arranges repairs at his convenience. some of the problems have been as small as light fixtures not working, to as big as a pipes coming lose and causing wall and carpet damage, the chimney fell off!!!! there has to be something i can do or am i at the mercy of the builders warranty. also, it was a one year warranty, what do i do after that year? the house is in texas.

check with your local code enforcement office.

Go to a local attorney who specializes in real estate.

If your builder is handling your complaints, you really don't have much recourse for any complaint, other than that the house perhaps was not put together very well from the start. Of course certain individual components of the house, such as roofing, siding and so on, carry their own manufacturer's warranties.

After your year of coverage, you are on your own, but by that time anything related to poor workmanship should have shown up and been remedied.

Not sure about texas, but all states have different regulations towards new builds. I would go to hadd.com/texas, maybe that will give you some insight. if not prepare for lawyer fees

Court/legal recourse. If it is a whole bunch of you...class action.
