Do people nowadays but sporting event tickets based on price or still based on location? Nowadays I feel people buy more on price and not as much on location if they just want to catch a ballgame, especially due to the high prices of food and beer.

Fans are relatively price sensitive when it comes to sporting events. Let's see -- has there ever been a regular season baseball game that was worth $150 a ticket to me? Probably not. I paid $45 a seat to go to Fenway Park a few years ago, and it was a special occasion since I was visiting from out of town. I gulped a little but said OK. But would I do it regularly? No. It's the same game in the bleachers.

I'll take advantage of special deals if possible. But generally, I want to go to a game on a specific date, and I'll pay a reasonable price.

I'm a little more inelastic on, say, concerts. Bruce Springsteen might come to my town every few years. I'll gulp and pay $75 for a show. But I know I'll have a great time, and it will be professionally done. No guarantees of a good game come with a sports ticket.

For a typical fan, going to the yard that evening and buying a ticket is probably based on price; the same goes for a family who may be buying tickets in advance.

But for fans who plan out attending certain games, I'm sure it still is the best chairs in the house.

Don't forget the cost to park a car within decent walking distance of a venue, which can be close to the highest prices for tickets.
