He sure had been eatin' good ! How old is this pig supposed to be ? (kinda' makes ya' wonder what else is out thar' in them thar' hills !) Why did he get killed ? Was he bothering someone ?

I was at the Texas State Fair in 2005 and they had a 1,500 pound (or therabouts, I think) pig, and in MN State Fair a 1,200 pound one. Since breeders select for pigs that grow fast, it wouldn't be surprising if we have supersized pigs today. The pickings are easy for pigs gone wild, BTW. They eat a lot more variety than a traditional boar.

i used to work in a locker plant in iowa. we had an old sow dress out at 1100 lbs. taking into consideration the loss in butchering, this one weighed close to 2500 lbs.

Feral hogs are masters of their environment and if the conditions are right they can get this big.

Pigs are omnivores, they will eat ANYTHING people included.
they can grow to enormous size, they will grow to there environment.
