ignore your friends. You have every reason to believe we are so damn irresistable, cuz well, we are! They will be jealous when they see you dating a hot latina. I don't know what this has to do with gays but whatever.
Oh and Mothra, Latina is NOT code for Mexican. Latina means Puerto Rican, Cuban, Honduran, Costa Rican, Mexican etc. Pretty much anyone from a latin american country. Just letting you know so that you don't embarrass yourself one day.

I have awesome long hair and I'm quite pleasantly thin. I've got a good vocabulary, I'm polite in real life (not always so on the internet) and I know a lot about language, History, Mathematics, Music, technology and Literature. By my own standards that should make me utterly irresistible to any intelligent young lady. But it hasn't ....... [yet?]

If your friends think it's wrong about that, it's like the people who think that it's wrong dating a black guy...
It's a problem of prejudice....
If I date your sister, maybe you will feel some prejudice about me because I'm not black...
So people should just be honest, kind and loyal with other people, and of course when they date someone too...

Get some new friends. I can put up with a lot of defects in my friends. I mean, none of us is perfect, and we all have our faults, but I can't stand racists. For me it would be an easy choice. Get new friends.

When your "friends" are paying your bills then and only then should they get a say in your happiness. If they can't accept you for who you are and what you like, it's time to get some new, more supportive, friends.
