Ok so right now I have my first car and I have had it and taken pretty good care of it for the last year.
I mean I LOVE this car and i went as far as to name her Connie lol.
The car is a 96 baby blue ford contour sport. It has a farely large dent on the drivers side rear panel. The check engine light is on and no one knows why. Its an automatic and, it stalls. We have put 2 fuel filters in it and I am pretty sure it needs fuel injectors and an ignition coil.
I got my car for free.
Dilemma:
I am going to college next year, and well I wont be living there but will need a desent car.
I have horses and would like to pull my horse trailer, o but you know those gas prices, they arent very V8 friendly.
I would like to drive something nice, A jeep would be great. But i only have $2,500 to spend.

My parents keep saying that my car is just a beater, but then they teach you to take care of it. I love my car and dont know what to do.
Fix my car up make it look nice,or buy a new one

You mentioned that nobody found out why the "check engine" light is on. You mentioned that it will need fuel injectors and an ignition coil. How do you really know? Have your friends put you car's computer on a diagnose? Many auto parts houses like Discount Auto etc. can put the diagnoses from your computer on it to find out for sure. Try to get more mechanics to look at your car (most offer free inspections and they give you a quote how much their repair would cost)
If you really have to buy fuel injectors, they are rather expensive.
The dent in your drivers quarter panel you might be able to bang it out by yourself, if it is close by your trunk. Just use a rubber mullet (hammer) and carefully hammer it from the trunk out back in place.
In case you want to buy yourself another car like a Jeep, think about the insurance, too and not just the fuel price. My daughter bought a Jeep Wrangler, which was her dream car, but she wasn't able to afford her insurance and had to sell it about 1/2 year later.

Not so bad. If you have $2500. and like your car get a few estimates from legitimate sources and fix your car. If you are fortunate enough to have a mechanic friend seek their advice. College is your #1 objective, car and horses are secondary. Perhaps you can fix your car for a $1000. or less and invest the rest in an older, dependable truck type (they are out there) and use that when you want to pull the horse trailer. Best to you, Chuck

You say you have $2500.00 and I am going to assume the contour is also yours ,so if you dump it this gives you $3k ,ok. with gas prices high right now and in the news small cars are at a premium and used V-8's are cheap -well I haven't met many teenage girls with "BOYFRIENDS" and "DADDIES" who actually "BUY" much gas at all-LOL! so you need to buy a vehicle that is BULLIT PROOF ! NO CV AXLES,NO STRUTS, NO TIMING BELT and easy to sell when college is done- A small Nissan or Toyota pick up with a stick shift- these cars are simple to own ,maintain ,and operate-mine is going on 300,000 miles (1980 toyota pick up) .

ok, you gave her $a million,000 so she woulnd't be out of pocket on the deductible. That became the right ingredient to do. She have been given the $a million,000 back, yet she did no longer provide it back to you. So she extremely has $7,000. while you're content textile letting her save the money, high-quality, yet not extra. What if she wanted to purchase a Rolls, and informed you she wanted $ninety,000 from you for the down fee? coverage places her interior the placement she became in before the accident. She had a $6,000 motor vehicle, and she or he now has $7,000. It does not remember what coverage you had on your motor vehicle, it does not provide to any extent further funds, the two. coverage is relatively funds value at time of loss, that's what her business corporation gave her.

after putting so much work into it, it's just better to buy a new one at this point. soon, you'll like your new car even more. however, i have no idea what you can get for $2.5k. if money was not as much of an option, i would recommend a hybrid like the toyota prius.
