I heard a story a little while ago that pissess me off. Some people went to a firehouse and noticed that there were no women and said that there was discrimination in the hiring of firefighters. The firefighters argued that women applied but for the final test, they had to carry a 160 pound body on their back and climb out the window and down a ladder. None of the female applicants could do it so the fire department was forced to make the body only 100 pounds, and then more women made it in. That is ridiculous! Nobody weighs 100 pounds except for skinny little ten-year-olds! My dad weighs 250 pounds and if some weak (no offense) woman comes in to save him, he's gonna die. While I do believe that women are vastly superior to men in many ways, we do have some things on women and people need to agknowledge that. We can't go around pretending that men and women are both the best at everything. There are jobs meant for women and jobs meant for men.

I agree with you, but it isn't PC to admit it. Maybe when the Baby Boomers retire...

Perhaps most people would say that being less strong is bad. So they get angry when you point out the obvious fact that men, on the whole, are larger, stronger, and better designed for feats of strength. Once people can unemotionally see that as a simple design difference, maybe they won't be offended by it.
You should never reduce an important standard, in order to let an unqualified person qualify. But, on the other hand, any person should be free to try to qualify. I think the thing that's hard for women to hear is, "women are allowed to do this, or not allowed to do that". That is sort of demeaning. But if someone says, this is a hard standard, but everyone is welcome to attempt it, and they try and fail, at least they were offered the same opportunity.

The thing about that is that ISN'T denying men and women are different. The test judges men and women the same way: they can pass if they can lift 160 pounds. That's an example of somebody acknowledging that men and women are different in that women tend to be less strong - and then demanding the bar lowered to favor the underperforming group!

Of course that kind of thought is very popular with a certain kind of person. It's always easier to just demand that the bar be lowered, rather than trying to jump high enough to reach it.

Women who irrationally insist that we are equal in all ways to men are doing a great disservice to all women.

It should be blatantly obvious to even the most militant of feminists that a woman is not equal to a man, at least in the physical sense. To argue otherwise just on principal will indeed endanger others if it is applied in these kinds of situations.

Woman certainly have strengths that men lack and vice versa, but we have to be realistic about it and apply them where appropriate.

I agree. As long as they can carry the standard for all firefighters, no problem. As long as those dads are capable of raising the kids, no problem.
But no one should get a job based on gender.

This isn't going to be popular with the wyminists...but...I must say, I do agree with you.
Women tend to be better nurturers.
Men seem to do better at heavy labor and jobs that include INDUSTRIAL protecting(meaning more than just the kids!)
