There is no error at all.. thats the brain teaser, to get you to hunt for an error that doesn't exist. It says in the very beginning that it is impossible, eluding to the fact there is no error. All the end means is that 80% of the students of the University of California San Diego couldn't find the (fictitious) error, not that there is actually an error in the preceding statement.

I could not find any error until i read I as L then remembered its all in Caps.
So I can be typed in uppercase
or erroneously typed as lowercase l
