1)How did Kelvin Edmond get into the hatch if the dharma inisiative was destroyed at least 16 yrs ago (when took Alex)
2)They sent a supply of food through parachute, which means theyre still working there, so why didnt they ever check on the original station and see that everyone was killed by Ben?
Also they never sent his replacements? So why send food?
3)Also when they wanted to blow up the tents with wire, they would have seen the sparks as it head towards the dynamite?
4)Why didnt they just blow up the cable that connected the Looking Glass to the island? That would have taken away theyre electricity and stopped the blocking?

1) I believe Kelvin really was a Dharma Initiative member along with Radzinsky. He left the military after the Gulf War. That places him on the island between early '91, and Des' arrival in '01. There's no real reason Kelvin & Radzinsky would know about the purge because they were self-contained and remote, unlike those watching them in the Pearl. Des killed Kelvin too soon, and didn't question him very much. Radzinsky is a real mystery to me. One or both of them did a lot of hiking around the island to find all those places on the blast-door map. Did they never run into anyone else? Why is the compound not on the blast-door map? What inspired Radzinsky to kill himself? Did he, or was he murdered?

1a) Kelvin repairing the Elizabeth: He could have known the Dharma Initiative was no more and just didn't say, but I think he really just didn't know and was bailing on it and Des just as he said.

2) I think the supply deliveries were automated through the Flame station. They had all the operations procedures in binders there, so they knew to press 24 for a pallet drop. My guess is that all drops were initiated from the Flame. Now, remember there was an incident at the Swan. What ever that was, it caused the need to push the button every 108 minutes. That information would be in the procedures manuals. The Others may have decided that since those guys were busy saving the world at the Swan, and didn't have time to leave except to gather their drop, they weren't a problem and could just stay there fat & happy. It's obvious from the pile of notebooks that nobody was reading them to see what was really going on in the Swan.

3) The wire would have simply conducted an electrical charge. It wouldn't have burned like a paper fuse, so, no. They wouldn't have seen any sparks unless the wire was wet.

4) How would they know that would cut the signal? The power may be generated from the Looking Glass. Cutting it could alert the wrong guys. If it was generating the power to The Island, and the phone still didn't work after shutting down the blocker, they'd have to repair the cable to get the radio tower working again. I'm glad they didn't risk frying someone by cutting the cable, just in case.

those are all v. good questions...pity none of us knows most of the answers lol.

but for #3, i have three words....Jack. Is. Stupid. he blew up a tree for Jove's sake. meaning the others could see what he was doing. and wasting dynamite in the process. but i digress. yes, the others would have seen the sparks. it is a plot hole. nothing more.

and for #4, the cable was clearly marked on the map as an anchor cable, not a power cable. so it really wouldnt have helped the losties to blow up the cable. plus, charlie wouldn't have been able to get off the show

hope this helps =]]
