It's my belief the only way to rid those nations of extremism and to get the locals to help us against the enemies of freedom(yeah I said it! Islamists are without a doubt antifreedom!) Look at Iran and the Taliban! We need to help those people in order to help ourselves and our security.I admit there are selfish reasons behind my intentions but everybody on this planet is looking out for their best interest and sometimes those interests overlap or need to compliment one another.Sometimes you can't have your pie without sharing a slice of it withsomebdy else!

go with the red cross or another non-governmental organization that is working there. donate to charities that are working there.
learn as much as you can and educate americans.

this might not help but an anti-drug program relayed by satellite to both the u.s. and afganistan could help withe growing of poppies for heroin. attempts already made maybe sattelite connections and things better than internet in place for years.anyway ant-drug education program used in u.s. schools and if it does not work scratch that. as others have said Red Cross,UN organisations like that.other ideas i have are changing rules so afganis can vote in elections world wide without losing citizenship.this would reach a large selection of women voters in afganistan or potential voters same could be done for the rest of the world would you like to vote in elections held in afghanistan from the U.S. A. vote against there should be a vote held on changing the rules

It is not the responsibility of the U.S. gov/citizens to help out...they need to help themselves make a county like they want...if its one country or three...but they are the ones that should do it..they have the money to make it what they want...but if they choose to fight forever then that's their problem....same goes for Israel and Palestine no matter how much advice or help they always end up blowing each other up...
