We started finger painting with our son when he was just 5 months old. Make your own non-toxic fingerpaint using sweetened condensed milk and food coloring. No problems if she puts it in her mouth and it dries with a glossy finish. Poster board makes a good surface (I found poster board in quarter sheets at the dollar store).

Another fun project is to take contact paper, peel the backing off, then tape it sticky side up to the table. Then give your daughter different colors of shredded up tissue paper and let her put them on the contact paper. When she's done, remove the tape from the edges and turn it over and put it onto a piece of construction paper.

She's also getting to about the age when she can use sidewalk chalk, they make some that are very chunky and easy for little kids to grip.

Break out the crayola washable paints! It's not too young at all! We bought the HUGE pads of paper and let our little ones paint with sponges, brushes, fingers, toes, you name it.

Also, young ones that age are easily amused by trips to the pet shop and stores. They get to see so much but they aren't in that "I want I want" stage. Its a great learning experience, a chance for you to get errands done but also a way for your little one to get exposed to new surroundings.

My son loves to play hide and seek. He loves to color with crayons.

and no it is not too young to finger paint just make sure it is non toxic.

My son also loves to play in the sand.

Play dates also help keep things fun for both of you.

Have fun and good luck

I like finger painting, we color vanilla pudding and paint on freezer paper, that way if she eats it it is fine.
