I think it's mostly the same with every generation.

Just looking around online, there are highly intelligent, informed and peaceful young people, and then there are fanatical, violent, bigoted loons playing FPS games all day.

I have the feeling that the better informed and knowledgeable people are, the better society becomes. Lunatics who support wars, are not educated, are prone to violence, only interested in instant gratification, or fanatical about their religion will always try to bring our society down with them. Look at Bush and the people who treat him like a Messiah, and there's a prime example how bad people can get.

As long as there are young people out there willing to add to the sum total of human knowledge and experiences, things will get better - that's how civilisations rise with better ideas.

Anything is possible, but personally, I'd say no to my generation. The kids today are just full of these meaningless problems, and all of them cuss, and all of them have bad things on their mind, and it just kills me to think of the future. Especially the kids my sisters know. Urghhh....it just makes me mad.
