Not all war movies are for entertainment only; the more realistic ones show what our soldiers had to go through. Try watching "Platoon" or "Saving Private Ryan". I watched some of those old WWII movies as a young boy; they scared me, made me aware that war was not a glorious thing. I also saw that our guys were also quite brave, and made me somewhat thankful that they did what they did.

add: I'm sure those movies are a long way from being perfectly accurate. There are many things that they can't or won't display in the movies. Some vets think its ok to see these movies others won't watch them. Some movies have been described by veterans as being quite realistic. Do you know if they're are realistic?

Band of Brothers just finished airing on The History Channel, it is historically accurate and each episode begins with (and the final episode ends with) the actual men portrayed in that program. Why would it be a bad thing to run that? Unless you don't believe in Duty, Honor, Country and the willingness to give your life for a just cause?

This question could be coming from one of two types of people:

1: The soccer mom who is trying to subject our youth to becoming ignorant or our military and its past.
2. A liberal who is trying to make war movies a bad thing to watch.

To me it is one of the ultimate ways to honour our boys who have worn the uniform. These movies depict our past. Yes thye deal with war, but then again, we had wars in our past like we have them in our present and future. These movies were made for just this very reason, to honur them in a way that no one else can do. It is one thing to hear a vet talk about his expereinces. It is another to see what they did during the battles and wars they fought in..
