I have recharged it a couple of times and it will stay cold for a couple of days and then stop working. The compressor will work for the next couple of days and then stop and no cold air comes out at all. What can be the problem? The freon I used to recharge it has a stop leak in it...what do you think?

If anyone knows of a cheap mechanic in Sioux Falls that would be great! Thanks!

There is a leak somewhere. Stopleak only works on small leaks or dry seals, it won't help broken O-rings, or blown compressor seals.
Take it to a shop and let them inspect it. there are special ultra-violet dyes that can be added, then looked at under a blacklight to find even the most hidden leaks.
After the leak is found, then you can fix it properly.

You have a leak in the system. The only way to find this accurately is to pull a vacuum on the system and see how long it holds vacuum. It should hold forever. A sniffer will allow you to check all hose connections for a leak if the vacuum is dropping. Also, the shaft seal on the compressor should be checked the same way.

Find the massive leak.... If it only lasts a couple of days you should be able to find the leak fairly easy. Stop leak is a sales gimmick. Doesnt work, never has, never will. And we wonder why we have problems with green house gases ???

Take it to a shop, have them pressure check it and see if you can fix it yourself

You have a leak that is not being fixed by the stop leak. You need to take it in and have them find the leak and fix it. This is not a DIY - it needs specialized tools to fix.

it has a leak, and the freon with stop leak is cheap and only works on very small holes.

The answer is very easy. You have a leak in the a/c system.CK all the a/c hoses & CK the a/c compessor for leaks.
