Yes, you can. The pill is not 100% effective. And there are things that can make it less effective, like if you don't take it at the same time every day, if you are on antibiotics or other prescription medications, etc.

The only 100% effective form of birth control is abstinence, or unless you or your guy has had the reproductive organs removed.
