I am always getting blamed for flirting from my wife, which she doesn't care about. But she says when I hug a female friend, My hugs are to tight and/or to long. I don't mean anything, or at least I don't think I do. ?????

She won't mind if you stop with the groping and keep your tongue in your mouth

There is definitely a friendly hug and a flirty hug. You likely know the difference, you just don't want to admit it. I've received both types of hugs. The flirty hug is tighter and longer. If it bothers your wife, why not just give up the hugging female friends thing? It will save you a lot of grief and misunderstandings in the long run.

Yes you might give the wrong message to your wife.
Do you have to hug her?
I don't like my husband hugging female friends either. I always try to avoid her at the partys, and i always find myself watching both of them if they pull away from the rest of the crowd. Probably just for an innocent talk, but it bugs me. I have to say, that my husband is very popular among women not because he is flirty, but because all the other husbands are either not nice to their wives or they cuss to much, my husband is different, he was single for 5 years before I met him, so he became good "buddies" with the wives....I still hope nothing happened back there, but it makes me think what if something did happen, and now I look like a fool in her eyes?

If it bothers your wife then you need to lighten up on the hugs and make them shorter. Quite frankly I have experienced the too tight and too long hugs from male friends and I find it icky.

When my dad or brother hug me it is a quick squeeze and release hug. That's the way to keep it on a platonic level.

I think flirty hugs are possible (I may be a offender...) but it sounds like you're genuinely puzzled so I doubt you've done anything wrong! Maybe your wife just needs a bit of extra reassurance for whatever reason, so lots of hugs for her!!!

Busted. I bet you do hang on a little too long or too tight. I would just try and be conscience of it next time and you'll know if it seems inappropriate.

Your hugs should probably not be any different for a woman as they are for a man.

Flirty hugs are ones that linger a little too long and squeeze a little too much. To appease her, try giving one arm hugs and quick ones at that.

Yeah I think hugs can be flirty. But maybe you don't mean to be.

What's wrong with hugging just briefly and not quite so tightly?? Probably will make the women feel better.

It can change as long as he wants it to change...He doesn't have to be rude about it, but he needs to let her know the boundaries of their relationship. he cant be laughing and joking around with her when he tells her. He needs to be firm and forthcoming about the whole situation
