Nope, not everyone has allowed themselves to be brainwashed into believing that they have a need for the latest of this or the best of that.

I think those who don't feel content with their lot usually have other issues to deal with, rather than the superficial wanting more that is at the surface.

Yup its the big con. We all flogg ourselves to death trying to keep up with the latest must haves.
Keeps us under control because we are too worried about money most of the time to do anything dangerous like take a real interest in what is really happening in the world!
Time to leave the rat race I think!

oh my god, isnt that the truth, i imagine we just are not happy with what we have. we waste our lives on having to have bigger and better, as we get older, we realize all that does not matter and we have wasted the best years of our lives, when we should be trying to enjoy what god has given us. trying to enjoy the simple things in life and the people who matter. must be the human condition we are brought up on. its everywhere, the tv, books, magazines, the schools , etc

Sorry but I disagree. I am very content with what I have got,

I have learnt many precious lessons in my life one of which is; the materialistic things don't matter friends and family do, because you can replace materials but not friends and family.

Because it is unfortunately human nature.

It is called the 3 fates of the human heart.
1. Want what we can't have
2. Don't appreciate it when we have it
3. Don't know what we have until it's gone

I have a bumper sticker on my pick up that says- I'LL ALWAYS WANT JUST A LITTLE MORE THAN I'LL EVER HAVE. Fortunately for me I don't have that much so there's lots of room for improvement!

But I am content. In fact, I want to keep what I have, not lose it or upgrade or anything.
