No. We were given weekends to have a break from school/work. Most younger kids have sports like soccer or football or track on Saturdays, and some older kids have jobs, and Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest, so weekend homework is an school's encroachment on our non-school lives. I'm 14 in the ninth grade.

18, Freshmen in college.
Well, yes unfortunately.
Allowing students to have homework on weekends allows the teacher to cover more class material. For many classes, teachers have so little time to prepare students, especially for AP exams. Therefore, they must advise students to do readings and what not over the weekend so they can move on as quickly and thoroughly. Class time isn't wasted doing stuff that can be done at home. Although it may seem unfair to the average student, homework pays off in the end. Besides, many students learn more and have a refreshed grasp of the topic they are supposed to be going over. They can walk into class Monday morning and not be lost due to the fact they didn't spend the entire weekend not thinking about school-related material.

The best year of my life was 5th grade
In my school, we were divided into 5 classes: 2 upper, 2 middle, and 1 remedial
Our teacher made us do our homework in class
The other class carried EVERY book home Monday through Friday. At the end of the year, they could bench press 15 more pounds than we could - H O W E V E R
We had the 5th Grade Florida Exams - we beat them 10-15%
overall - so there!

13-i don't think that we should get homework
we go to school for 6 hours or more a day and then when we get home we have homework
i think everyone deserves 2 days off
when my dad comes home for the weekend he doesn't have to do anything for work and i don't think we should either
having a project is a different story but if its just homework that's stupid kids don't deserve that and they probably wont remember to do it either if you cant find enough time to do it during the week that's your problem not there's
what you can do is on Fridays teach them to be on task you give them work that you would give them over the weekend and tell them that if they don't finish it its homework that way what you want to get done will and its there problem if they don't get it done

Ok, I'm a teacher and ABSOLUTELY they should get homework on weekends ((I also typically assign homework over breaks and holidays). WHY? Because without that DAILY reinforcement, I think most students' brains turn to mush (and Iv'e had this confirmed by students who tell me that they 'Can't" study for an important exam until the night before because lthey "wont' learn anything" and they "need just enough til before th test, and will then forget everything"). This is not learning. LEarning is an art form and quite frankly, I think most students in your generation are very lazy. Without that structure, you WON'T keep yoru studies up, so yes, IF I could get away with it, I'd assign even more ;)

Students need time away from school to relax and forget about school. They need sometime set away for them to build up other aspects of their lives. Weekends are perfect for this however when homework is issued over weekends they cannot get away from school. They cannot relax because they have to be working and thinking about school. In most jobs do you work on weekends? No...

I think if the teacher has work to do the students should get a bit of work sometimes its too much to handle! My teacher has given us just about 5 pages of homework for one weekend and i only got Sunday to myself yet that's when housework happens!
