remove spool from craftsman electric line trimmer to refill it.

You have to unscrew the bottom cap. It is probably stuck. It has to be turned in a counterclock wise position. You may need a pair of channel lock plyers to do it. Good luck.

The carburetor must be rebuilt. those skinny flat products which you observed in there are diaphrams. They get previous and drained. Get a rebuild kit, deploy it and it will run like new.
