Problem with directx for call of duty 2 ????

Hi I've been playing cod 1 with no problems , today I installled cod2 and when I try to play before it even tries to load up I get an error message .. directx r has encountered an unrecoverable error ?? does anyone know what is wrong ?? thankyou.

Here's a link for you to download DirectX 9.0c. If you're using a graphics card that will use DirectX 10, try the second link.

Your copy of Windows will need to be validated when downloading from Micro$oft.
