I would go with a trio of guppies and a cory catfish or two myself.

in a 5 gallon tank with good filtration would be 4 male/female(don't mix in your case) guppies,or a betta,or some shrimp,or 3 cory catfish( pandas are best),or a draft puffer.
Tetras need to school wiht atleast 5-7 of the smae speacies and need open space. They are mose for like a ten.mollies get too big. You could add some java moss to make it better!

a few tetras (2 or 3) OR a few mollies OR a few guppies should be fine.

I would think either a Japenese Fighting fish, or a few guppies, or just a nice goldfish!
