A warning note to my friends STOP SMOKING I've been hopelessly addicted to nicotine since I was 12 and have been trying to give up seriously since 1979 ( ridiculous ain't it ) and now I've managed to get a serious lung disease and can't walk more than a few yards without having to stop and gasp for breath. It was the worst decision I ever made and if I could I go back in time and eradicate the plant from existence but alas........... so please for Gods sake if you smoke stop it as fast as you can or you'll end up like me.

I'm in the US, and I smoke. The laws are already in place here that you can't smoke in an establishment. It's actually nice. You get used to it after a month or so that you have to go outside. Plus, you meet interesting people when outside for a quick smoke. It turns out it's not all that bad! Plus you don't reek as much when you get home. But quit? Not yet for me!

i was an occasional / social smoker .. i smoked on and off, and wasnt highly dependant on them, yet i couldnt kick the habit completely. Until i fell pregnant in 2005. I stopped then and havent really missed it that much (although since i became pregnant again this year i have had a few dreams which involved me smoking). But when i wake up i dont crave a ciggie, just when dreaming. Strange huh?

I dont smoke, but my dad does. I dont know what on earth he will do once the ban comes into force.

He doesnt like going outside to smoke, but my mom will not allow smoking in the house! I dont blame her!

This ban is the best thing ever. Who wants to eat their food with all those horrible fumes everywhere?

hi, yes i smoke and i live in wales, i am giving up after my wedding in july, but can't afford to add any pounds at the mo!! Must admit it's really strange having to go outside pubs/clubs/work grounds for a quick cigarette, but definately for the best.

Does smoking weed count? Otherwise I don't smoke. And I live in the United States.

I'm proud to say i gave up whilst pregnant with my second son. That was 7 years ago. I can't stand it now, and the smell really make me feel sick. I smoked for 10 years. aged 15-25.
