A cuckold is a married man whose wife has sex with other men. In current usage it sometimes refers to non-married couples in committed relationships as well, although the traditional meaning is a man whose wife is adulterous.

The term refers to the wife cheating on the husband, it comes from the French community of the early 800's. Adopted by the English around 1250.
A cuckold couple in current times sometimes refer to couples that have a open marriage, in which the wife dates and have sex with other men, why the husband watches.

Cuckold is an old term for cheater. It's not about a couple, it's about a person. A person who cuckolds is a cheater It's as simple as that.

For me it depends on how far you go with it. My wife and I have adopted some of it.
I love it when she tells me what she does with her personal trainer at the gym! So for me, it is all about loving being made jealous and the competition at the gym that me, the old man has to keep up with! So you don't have to go all the way, a wife can make a man a cuckold even in a fantasy type situation!
I don't want my wife to just have sex with other men in general. In this lifestyle, generally a"bull" is a very well hung male that will intimidate me and my wife makes fun of me with. We would like to do it just once or twice a year with a bull. Just to bring in some competition. So you can adopt a part of it, or all of it.

I did this with my 2nd wife. Wow, what an exciting experience. She loved it, he loved it and I loved it. I was not jealous at all and actually felt a deeper love with my wife for sharing it all with me. Its not for everyone but if a couple wishes to explore and are open minded with few hang ups about sex outside of marriage and / or sex outside of love it can be a quite fulfilling experience. Some people can separate the two; Some cannot. If I had a partner that was willing to explore like that again; I'd do it once more. Its not for everyone for sure. BUT, to each their own!

Dawn only has it partially correct. A cockold is a cheater. One who is having sex with someone other than their spouse. That is what the purest form is. However, this term has been combined with the word COUPLE to indicate that the spouse not only has knowlege of the affair but approves of it when done in their presence. In essence, a couple who likes to watch and have their spouse watching while they are engaged in the sexual act with someone else. This practice is not uncommon and is frequently found in swingers circles(places where both the husbands and the wives switch partners). Hope this answers your question!
