Anybody heard about a second X-Files movie?

..I loved the X-Files and the first movie sucked but I would still like to see a second installment

In the August 6, 2006 edition of Parade magazine, David Duchovny explicitly claimed that all of the requisite actors had "signed on" to play in a sequel.

Then, in 2007, both David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson mentioned that the sequel was underway.

In a May 2007 article on The Sun Online, Duchovny said:

"We’re hoping to get together just under a year from now and make another X Files movie. Chris [Carter] is working on the script right now with Frank Spotnitz, who was one of the writers on the show."

And while David doesn’t know exactly what Chris’s script for the reunion X Files film contains, he said it won’t be picking up the storyline from the show’s final episode.

"I think we’re going back to the ‘monster of the week’ type feel, where if you’re not an avid fan and don’t understand the mythology you can still come to it and get the movie."

Also, a March 2007 article in Entertainment Weekly said, "it seems quite possible that the long-awaited sequel to the X-Files movie could get back in production some time soon."

The only problem is Chris Carter, creator of the show, had a lawsuit against 20th Century Fox over syndication profits, so that had to be resolved first.

If those aforementioned issues are ever resolved, Gillian Anderson's manager Connie Freiberg tells EW, ''there's no obstacles other than the delivery of a great script.''

So, it's a great possibility, especially with all of this news being recent and within the year. I've linked my sources below so you can do some further investigations of your own. The EW article says that they will keep you posted, so it may be a good idea to keep up do date with Entertainment Weekly news when you can.

I'm not sure there is any new info, but you can check wikipedia (search X-Files sequel). A trailer has not been officially released on the internet, but just search "x-files 2 trailer" on YouTube, and you'll find a whole bunch that have been leaked. Just make sure they don't say "fan-made trailer" or anything like that, because that's not the real deal. Oh, and it will be released on July 25th. Since the trailer's playing in movie theaters, I'm pretty sure it really will come out on that day. And if it doesn't, I'll just sue Chris Carter for false advertising...

News to me--haven't heard much about David Duchovny or Gillian Anderson since the series went belly up--could be interesting--but only if THEY continue in the roles of Mulder and Scully!

I have not seen any in the making. None being released soon. I don't see why there would be another one. But, there are sequels to movies that I really wish people would stop making.
