Those are called Function Keys. They are used to perform some special task.They are application dependent, means the each key's function may vary from application to application.

By default 'F1' is used to access help file.

All of those keys are 'spare'. I mean by this that they are left open to programmers to add specific functions to. Whenever you press the 't' key, you get a letter 't', whenever you press the F1 key, different things can happen depending on the program you are running. The Windows key is not quite a spare key. It is used by the Windows OS to give you access to shortcuts. Try the Windows key and the letter 'e' together for an example. The insert key does what it says on the label (try it inside a word processor).

The buttons f1 through to f12 are function keys.
the windows key opens up the start menu.
