Only part of Pomp and Circumstance is played (at least at my school). The more lively introduction and closing sections are omitted to make the music more appropriate for walking. In addition, the piece is scored differently, for high school band rather than full orchestra.

They do usually play Pomp and Circumstance by Sir Elgar, but once they played the march from Verdi's Aida in our school.
