There is a new Birth control pill out that is supposed to make women not have a period at all. I forget what it is called, but I would love to take it. I have horrible periods and when I was younger before I ever had sex I had to take birth control pills. If you guys have any ifo on this new pill I would love to hear it. I am really interested in taking it. NO CRAMPS!! How great would that be? Ugh! Thanks~

Yeah I am currently on Yaz. I like it, but I still get really bad cramps and lay in bed all day and sleep. Also, do you guys think it is unhealthy or unsafe to take a pill and not have a period at all?

Its called Lybrel. I haven't heard too much about it but I wouldn't use it. I think it is weird to not have a period.

It is also new to the market, who KNOWS what type of side affects and long term affects this pill will have on a woman's body.

It's still going through FDA approval, but it looks like it'll be on the market soon, although it's not available yet. You can pretty much do the same thing with any other birth control - just don't take the last 7 days of placebo pills and start the next pack right away - that'll keep your period away. However, many women experience a lot of breakthrough bleeding and will have spotting for months at a time and many find it's not even worth it.

I heard about it too. Don't be too tempted to jump into yet though. I say, wait it out at least a year or even longer, until there is more research on it. There could be potentially long-term health effects that they're unaware of right now. Stick with your current birth control pills to play it safe. Check out the link below, a short article about Lybrel.

This pill is still going through FDA approval and if its approved it will be on the market as early as july. Personally i am not going to take it. Yes i hate my period but having it every month also give me the satisfaction that i am 1. not pregnant and 2. everything is fine down there...

Besides they haven't fully tested it on what it may do to affect fertility . My doc told me its bad to miss more then one period at a time as it screws up your system.. and i am not going to risk not having babies..

But i guess each to there own

I say sit back and wait a couple years for the results to come through. The patch (one every week) has a higher risk of blood clotting, even in young women and something that stops bleeding altogether would have a much more serious risk. Don't volunteer yourself as a guinea pig, wait till you know what the long term effects are.

i know Seasonele is the one that makes you have periods every 3 months, i had that a couple years ago and it made my periods super light. As for a Pill that totally taking periods away i havent heard of it, the only birth control that i know that does that is the Depo shot, and that (as far as i know) is found to not be that good for you because of it
