-3x=9y I just added 9y to both sides
9y=-3x I just switched places of x and y--this is okay to do
y=-3/9x I just divided both sides by 9.

Take the equation and add the 9y to the right side:

-3x = 9y

Now divide by 9 on each side:

-3x/9 = y, or y = -x/3

*NOTE: gordon is wrong because he brought the one value to the other side without changing its sign.
