Is there a difference between a pony and horse?

Size. Ponies are usually 14 hands and under at the withers ( one hand = 4 inches). Horses are over 14 hands. Ponies and horses are generally bred to meet these size limits. They can be cross-bred with each other, so technically they are the same species.

a pony is full grown and is under 14.2 hands high. hands being 4 inches each. a horse is full grown at 14.2hh or higher. it doesnt mater the age. only one exception is a miniature horse, they are not a pony.

i think that ponys are 14 hands and under and horses are over. i think
and baby horses are not ponys. baby horses are called foals. boy baby horses are called colts and girl baby horses are called filly
