When you said you tried soaking your hand in water, was it HOT water...you should be using hot water (as hot as your hand can stand) and put a bit of salt in the water as well. If that still doesn't help to draw the splinter out or at least partially draw it out, you may have to use a sewing needle to pick at the skin around the splinter until it gets to a point that you can tweeze it. Soaking your hand in hot water should at least soften your skin up. Make sure the needle that you use is sterilized and you should have peroxide on hand to prevent any infection. Unfortunately if this doesn't work you might have to go to a doctor. Good Luck!!

Take a small piece of bacon or ham and place that over the splinter. Then wrap a bandage over that. The salt in the bacon/ham will draw the splinters to the surface of the skin and they will come out easily. I grew up on a farm, ran barefoot, aand bacon was put on my feet many times. QUIT picking at it. That will just make it worse.

Use alcohol to sterilize a sewing needle and try picking them out with that.
