If moving isn't an option, then try applying directly to the companies you are interested in. Most job openings never show up in the newspaper, on job sites, etc. If you want to work with animals try the local vets. Get dressed up as if for an interview, walk up to the counter, tell them you'd like to apply for a job, and fill out an application or speak with vet. Try the same thing for any other job you are interested in.

It takes courage to do this, but you've already done sales so you know what it feels like to be rejected, and you will get a job this way.

Best of luck!

Work thru a temp agency. Many jobs are filled this way, you start out as a temp and if you're good many companies will offer you a permanent position after a while. Also you can decide whether or not you actually like the job, and if not, walking away from it is not a big deal. They'll find you another job.

I live in Ohio too. I know exactly what you're going through. Have you tried the Ohio One Stop Services? There should be one in almost every Ohio county. They are pretty much an employment office but they can refer you for jobs, and provide free training. And, if you qualify, they will pay for you to go to college. They have an online job matching web site where you can search for jobs yourself if you don't want to go to the office. The link to the web-site is below. You can search for jobs there yourself or check to see if there is a One Stop office near you. Good Luck!

Why the hell do people blame the economy for their inadequacies?

Simply put: You have no education. Your experience is all across the board and you're not even sure what you want to go for. Tailor your resume to a specific industry and apply to those jobs. Walk into stores and fill out applications. Network, make phones, ask questions. You can find a job but you have to aim it to the right positions and right people.

Good luck.

Do not use a firm like RL Stevens, you have to pay a fee and it might seem like the easy way out but you will be able to do better on your own.
