1.(3+x)/(8+x)=2/3
so 3(3+x)=2(8+x)
9+3x=16+2x
x=7
2. 4/n=5/(n+1)
4(n+1)=5n
4n+4=5n
4=n, 5=n+1

Although it's urgent think it's better to teach you how to do it.
Do just as the question states with a sign. I don't wanna say variable because that is too complex to understand.
I won't tell you the answer to the first one, but I'll use it as an example. First of all it says A number is added.
The number is unknown so you would represent it with some sign. Most people use x, but any sign is available.
3+x/8+x=2/3
You would cross multiply
9+3x=16+2x
2x+7=3x
x=7
Okay x is the number you add by so there you go. I didn't intend to tell you the answer, but o well.
Use the following steps for all algebra questions:
1. Represent any unknown value with a sign or variable. Be sure to include different variables for different values, but same variables for same values.
2. Plug it into a equation translated from the qeustion.
3. Try to find the value you are looking for by looked for a value for you variable or sign.
A hint: A question can never be solved unless the number of variables matches the number of equations. Obviously excessive equations would be helpful too.
