I just got done draining my radiator fluid and filling it back up with new coolant. While bleeding the air out of the radiator lines should the engine be on or off and is heat suppose to be on or off. I'm confused because I loosened the bleeder with the car running and the heat off and air bubbles and fluid kept coming out for a good 5 minutes. I kept waiting for a steady stream of fluid to come out but air continued to bubble out. I've lost a small cup full of coolant from the bleeder valve. What should I do?

It's a 95 Honda Prelude, if that makes a difference.

have your heater on and the car running with the lid off of the radiator for about 5 Min's, put the cap on then take it for a 5-10 minute drive, keep an eye on your temp gauge while driving. switch it off and let it cool for 30 Min's then remove radiator cap and top up fluid.

alan, man, fill the system.and idle engine... it should bleed itself. if you want to,loosen heater hose clamps at the firewall, and see if any air comes out... but just let it idle, and it should bleed itself.be sure and fill the catch tank and watch it. the rad.get coolant from it,when it gets low.. keep the catch tank full, and you should be alright..make sure the rad.cap is secure and tight....

It does it by it's self.

Fill the radiator, and overflow/expansion tank.
Put the Rad. cap on and you're done.
